Las fechas para las que se anuncia el evento son del 6-12 de Diciembre, muy próximo al campeonato del mundo de Bodyboard del confital. La prueba del Confital no tiene cerradas todavía las fechas, así que se puede dar la situación de que ambos campeonatos coincidan.
Se trata de un evento itinerante en el que se compite por selecciones. Cada selección debe aportar un número determinado de competidores: dos open, dos junior , una fémina y un drop Knee junto al equipo técnico. Los competidores van sumando puntos de manera individual para sus respectivas selecciones resultando vencedora la que mas puntos acumule.
Hasta hace poco la ISA (International Surfing Asociation) celebraba en unos mismos juegos las competiciones de bodyboard y de surf:.los ISA World Surfing Games.
Tras esa ruptura muchos pensaron que los juegos mundiales de Bodyboard nunca se volverían a celebrar, pero la federación española parece haber dado un paso adelante. Todavía no se ha aclarado con que frecuencia se celebraran estos juegos, pero será un gran paso adelante para el bodyboard.
Para la celebración de esta cita, la federación española ha pensado en Canarias como sede, y mas concretamente en la localidad Grancanaria de Galdar, famosa por sus potentes rompientes, entre las que se encuentra el Frontón, La Guancha y el Agujero.
El rumor de la celebración de un evento de estas características en España no es nuevo. Inicialmente Galicia se postulaba como principal candidata, pero parece que Gran Canaria, tras los éxitos cosechados en la realización de eventos de bodyaboard internacionales ha ganado la partida.
Hasta la fecha la federación española no ha emitido ningún comunicado confirmando la celebración del evento.

The British Bodyboard Club (‘BBC’) is delighted to confirm that the inaugural World Bodyboard Games is being held in Gran Canarias in the week following the Confital IBA tour event; namely 6-12 December 2010.
The event will have Open, Junior, Women’s and Drop Knee divisions; and the BBC has asked the BSA to enter a full team in the ISA sanctioned competition. The team will comprise of 2 Open BBers, 2 Junior, 1 Woman and 1 Drop Knee rider, along with a support staff of Coach and Manager.
Rich Hall, BBC Chairman said: “Many bodyboarders will remember the furore that erupted around the globe when the ISA stripped bodyboarding from the World Surfing Games. Many people thought that the WBBG would never happen, but the Spanish Federation has stepped into the breach and with a great bodyboard venue too”. He continued “we don’t know how often this event will run, but we’re backing it 100%. It looks set to be a great advert for bodyboarding”.
Running back to back with the IBA tour event, the competition is set to attract the world’s best bodyboarders to represent their host nations; and with European competitors doing so well on the world tour they will be in with a good shout against the powerhouses of Australia, Hawaii, Brazil and South Africa.
The BBC will be nominating competitors to represent team GB, using the Auto-Sleepers British tour and Nationals, European and international events as its principal drivers. First and second place on the ASG tour will be in contention for the 2 Open slots, whilst the other places will be decided on the basis of performance at the Nationals and/or other relevant events during 2010.
The BBC will be contributing financially itself towards sending the team to Gran Canarias and has just secured backing from a collaboration within the bodyboard industry.
